9th Day of Christmas: Sacrifice

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” -John‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Christmas is a time where we think about gifts. What it is that we want. What we might give others. It is the thought and consideration of others that someone thought enough of you to give you a gift.

It is one thing when someone goes to Target or logs on to Amazon to get you a gift. It’s another thing when someone gives you everything they got just to show you how much they love you. God loves us so much that He sacrifices the life of His only son so that we could have another chance. Have you thought about this sacrifice?

He leaves heaven and enters the earth. Sacrifice. He does not get the royal entrance He deserves, but enters the world in a feeding trough for animals. Sacrifice. They made no room for Him in the inn, but yet He comes to make room for us all in eternity. Sacrifice. He is born with the sole purpose to die a painful death. Sacrifice.

When you wear or use the gift you receive, do you think about the person that gave it to you? Do you think about them when you are wearing the news shoes or watching the bigger television? Do you think about the sacrifices they made so that you could have it? When you wake up each day, you are a recipient of new mercies. The reason you get them is because of His sacrifice. When you think of Christmas, remember the sacrifice. The Father gives His Son so His Son can give His life. We didn’t and still don’t deserve anything, but the sacrifice was made for us.
