August 29, 2023- I Know God

“Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him, and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” -I Kings‬ ‭19‬:‭11‬-‭13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I got a haircut and I forgot that students at my school had not seen me with short hair. All day, they freaked out because I no longer had locs. I was the same person but they could not see past the different way that I looked. The question all day was why did you do that?

How many times has God manifested Himself to us in a different way and we don’t recognize it because we are looking for Him in another way? His identity did not change, but his appearance did. We have become so used to finding God by how He looks instead of His true identity. And when He does change it up, we ask why? We have got to know God not only how he appears, but how He speaks, feels, and touches. There ought to be something distinct about our relationship with Him that even if God gets a haircut, we know His voice. We know His presence. We know His touch. How close are we with God that we know that it is Him when He shows up in a different way.
