April 11, 2024: I Will Seek Wise Counsel in All Things

”Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety.“ -Proverbs 11:14 NKJV

Having the right people in your corner is always important. Maybe you have seen how important it is to help you navigate some areas of your life. Athletes and entertainers sometimes fall into the cycle of getting too much too fast. Because the right people are not in place in their lives, they make unwise decisions and lose everything in a short amount of time. Wasteful spending, doing everything that the see or hear, and making immature decisions makes a cautionary tale for others to listen to.

Solomon continues to encourage us to pursue wisdom and why it is important in our lives. In this chapter, Solomon reminds us of the importance of counsel. A word translation from the Hebrew would read, "Where there is no good advice, the people would be lead to destruction; but in the abundance of good advisors there is progress." The people and influences that we have around us can really impact the outcome of our endeavors.

Solomon says when you don't have good advice, things will fail. Things will not work out. You will not experience success. All because you didn't have wisdom to guide you. On the flip side, if you have an abundance of good advice, you will do well. Success will be a part of what you do. Now, you must ask yourself a question. How do I determine what good advice is? That's where wisdom and discernment comes in. This comes from God which is why you have to ask Him for it. In everything that we do, include wisdom. Have a circle that includes God that you can trust to give you that good advice to be successful. Your thoughts are more important than you think. What your thoughts because they become your actions. Where are your thoughts coming from? Wise or unwise counsel?
