April 12, 2023- My Life Is In The Lord’s Hands Like Clay In The Hands of The Potter

“O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the Lord. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel!” -Jeremiah‬ ‭18‬:‭6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Dr. Claybon Lea shares a story about being on a cruise ship. While they were eating dinner, the entertainment for the night was an ice sculptor. As he pulls out the tools and gets to work on the ice, the block starts to take shape. When people see the ice, they start a discussions among themselves. Did he make this up as he went along or did he have it in his mind what the finished product would look like? They came to the conclusion that he could not know where to start unless he knew what the finished product would look like.

The Lord reminds Israel that He can do them just like the potter does the clay. The potter has an image in mind just like the ice sculptor does. That any time the clay gets outside of the intended image, the potter can bring them back. The Lord does the same thing to us. We know that there are times that we fall out of image. That we do things that are outside of His will. God sees us and finds a way to bring us back. It’s always a good place to be in His hands. When we find ourselves there, we will always be active in His purpose.
