April 9, 2024: I Will Embrace Wisdom's Call And Leave Foolishness Behind

”Forsake foolishness and live, And go in the way of understanding.“ -Proverbs 9:6 NKJV

In the poem “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost, you will find these words:

“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”

Everyday in life, we have to make choices. Do we go this way or that way? Do I take this job? What do we have for dinner? Should I stick to what I am doing or try something else? Whether they are big or small decisions, they are all things that could impact our lives. How we respond to them could be a life or death situation. Robert Frost is confronted with a decision to make about the path to travel. He choses to take the road less traveled. The rood less traveled is not always the most popular or glamorous. Some times it is the long, taxing road. The crazy part is that most of the time the road less traveled is the right way to go. 

Solomon is sharing with us that we are faced with two paths each day of our lives. Foolishness or wisdom. There is nothing productive that comes from foolishness except for pleasing our flesh. Foolishness leads to destruction.  Foolishness does nothing but keep us stagnant. Solomon’s advice is to forsake foolishness and live. Forget that pathway of foolishness and the ways of foolishness and you will live. You will have a productive live. If I must forsake foolishness, then I must pursue wisdom. Wisdom is the way of understanding and guides your life. As has been stated earlier in these affirmations, if you want wisdom, just ask God. Leave behind the unproductive and focus on what will give you life.
