April 13, 2024: I Will Be Diligent, And My Needs Will Be Met

The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing,
while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied. -Proverbs 13:4 NKJV

If you really desire something in like, you can’t just expect it to fall in your lap. You have to put in the work to get it. If you want a job, you actually have to get off the couch and search for one. You have to get your resume together and apply for one. One can’t expect that someone is going to magically find their way to your house and hand you a job. You have to do something on your own. In this instant age that we live in, there is an expectation that we can get things whenever we want them.

Here is the wisdom for today. Solomon said that the sluggard craves and gets nothing. The lazy person wants a whole lot of things from life, but that is all they are willing to do. They aren’t willing to put forth the effort to get it. As my pastor used to say, “A whole lot of hallelujah and no doo-lelujah.” On the other hand, you have the one who is diligent. The one who doesn’t mind putting in the work to be successful. The one who is consistent in making sure that whatever they work for comes to pass. They will always have what they need. How does wisdom fit into this principle? We can choose to be lazy or put in the work. If we choose to be lazy, we have no justification to complain when things don’t go our way. If we put in the effort, we know what is coming. Our needs will be met and we won’t be craving something anymore.
