August 23, 2023- I Have Another Chance

“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” -‭‭II Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I’m am a teacher by profession. At my new position, part of my responsibilities is to go to ISS (In School Suspension) and talk to those students who find themselves in there. I did not know that I would actually like this part of the job. There was student who said some inappropriate things and was a part of the program I oversee. I told him that there are certain expectations that he has to meet in order to participate in the program. At this point in time, his face was in shock. He realized that he had messed up. I told him that when he got out do there, he would have another chance to prove himself. The first day he got out, he saw me in the hallway, gave me a hug, and said, “Thank you for giving me another chance.” When he came to my class, he did the exact same thing.

How many of us have messed up in life and gotten another chance? Not just a second chance, but another chance. When we look at our lives, God is committed to the purpose that He has for our lives. He does not give up on His promises. Instead, He is patient with us; doing what it takes to bring us to repentance. His goal is not to destroy us, but for us to turn around from the mistakes that we have made and live for Him. When you see how much God really loves you, you have to make sure you tell God “Thank you for giving me another chance.”
