April 2, 2024: I Welcome God's Wisdom Into My Mind And His Righteousness Into My Life

”For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly;“ -Proverbs‬ ‭2‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Each one of us knows someone who is extremely brilliant. You ask them anything about anything and they can rattle off an answer very quickly. They could be a Jeopardy champion several times over. However, there is something that they normally struggle with… common sense. The application of this knowledge is usually a struggle. We can have all of the knowledge in the world, but if we can’t apply it, we operate in a deficit. Knowledge is knowing what to do. Wisdom is how to apply it. God gives us wisdom that we need in our lives.

In these two verses of Proverbs 2, we are given three things that God does for us.

1. God is the source of wisdom. He is the only one who can give us this. Knowledge and understanding come from His mouth. If we search for wisdom from any other source, it would be an imitation that is not worth anything. This is why the fear (reverence) of the Lord is the beginning of understanding (Proverbs 1:7).

2. God stores wisdom. We have a treasure chest that we can go to when we need it. For those who really want to live a righteous life, God has a treasure of wisdom to help us live our lives with purpose. He does not have a bunch of tweets or Instagram posts that will help us every now and then. What God has stored up for us will help us in every aspect of our lives.

3. God is a shield. He not only provides, stores, but He protects as well. As we try to live right and walk in purpose, God secures from the attacks that could throw us off track. He actively works to defend, guard and preserve those who walk in His ways.
