1st Day Of Christmas

““But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.”” -Micah 5:2 NKJV

In 1969, a 16 year old Matt Kittredge wanted to get his mother a Christmas present. The only problem was he didn’t have the money to do so. So Matt took some crayons and wax and melted them in a milk carton as a gift for his mother. He made her a candle. A neighbor who wanted a candle as well gave him some money to buy some wax. This investment started him to start designing and making candles in his kitchen. This would be the start of one of the most famous candle companies in the world, Yankee Candle.

How does this story help us understand Micah 5:2? The prophecy said that God would take something from a place that no one would expect and make Him great. He will take something from humble beginnings and exalt him to a place where He would be a ruler. It doesn’t matter where you are in life, when God has a plan for your life He always finds a way to put you in place. From little bitty Bethlehem, God brought something great. 

Scripture asks a question, “Can anything good come from Nazareth?” The response is “Come see.” Can anything good come from Mathis? Can anything good come from Corpus? Can anything good come from Lake City? Can anything good come from me? When God has given you a word that He is going to do something, watch it come to pass… even if it starts in a small place.
