April 20, 2024: I Am Careful Of Who I Hang Around

In the world of social media, television, and other internet sources, there are things that we find out about people’s lives that probably shouldn’t be news. There are even some things that we share with our own lives that we should probably keep private. With this attitude and mindset, some people want to be the first person to share the news about someone else’s life. They want to be the local TMZ or other breaking news platform. Every thing is not for public consumption and there are moments we want to share the gossip more than the Gospel.

Gossipers have the tendency to share secrets. If we do that, we expose ourselves as being untrustworthy. What was told in confidence, is now shared with the world because of one’s lack of self-control. This exposure says more about the character of the gossiper than the one who they are gossiping about. Because of this, Solomon says stay away from gossipers. Do not get caught up with these people because your reputation and character will be on the line. The company you keep is a reflection of you. If your company has questionable character, you might be there as well. Solomon says if you know this is what they do, don’t associate with them.
