April 8, 2023- As I Mourn, the Lord Comforts Me

“Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Growing up, they used to read us a book called Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. In the book, Alexander goes through a series of events that make him feel like this isn’t the place for him to be. He had gum in his hair. He tripped on a skateboard. The teacher told him he was singing too loud. He forgot the number sixteen while he was counting. It was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day for Alexander. He thought that his problems could be fixed by moving to Australia. After telling his mom the happenings of his day, she offers him these words of encouragement. Even in Australia, there are days like this.

As we go through life, we will experience days that knock us around. Days that make us want to cry. Times that make us want to give up. We experience loss and grief. In all of this, Jesus called us blessed. You may ask, how am I blessed in all of these things? You are blessed because you are not in this alone. You will be comforted. You have a friend in Jesus who will be there with you to wipe your tears away. One who will be there to wrap His arms around you. Whatever you face today or during the rest of your life, just know, He’s got you.
