Making It On Broken Pieces

And the soldiers’ plan was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim away and escape. But the centurion, wanting to save Paul, kept them from their purpose, and commanded that those who could swim should jump overboard first and get to land, and the rest, some on boards and some on parts of the ship. And so it was that they all escaped safely to land.  -Acts 27:42-44 NKJV

Remember the nursery rhyme “Humpty Dumpty”?
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall:
All the King’s horses and all the King’s men cannot put Humpty Dumpty together again…

Life is sometimes just like that…Full of storms!
 
When a storm comes not only do things in our life fall apart, but we fall apart. So how did I survive a storm where I lost a daughter to lupus in 2003? How did I survive a storm when I filed bankruptcy in 1968?

How did I survive a storm that left me heart broken when I lost my 7 week old grandson in 2006?  But wait! This is not how the story ends. You have to get up and put those pieces back in place.  
 
I challenge you to hold on to that little bit of love you have left. It might be broken but it has enough of what you need to make it! Remember it’s broken but useable! God has a way making the broken useable!
 
This text (Acts 27:44) says the rest of the men who could not swim got on planks, boards and broken pieces of the ship and they all escaped safely to land. 
 
Many have been severely hurt by a storm and it left an aftermath of broken pieces in your life. But God is saying to you--- hold on to those broken pieces and you will survive.
 
It might be broken yet it has enough of what you need to make it! Remember it’s broken but useable! God has a way making the broken useable! And the ultimate witnesses is Christ Jesus as to what God can do with the broken pieces of your life.
 
·Jesus used a broken woman from Samaria that had five husbands to spread the gospel. Broken but useable!
 
·Jesus took a sinful uneducated fisherman by the name of Peter to build his Church on. Broken but useable!

·Jesus took 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish blessed it and broke it and feed 5,000+ and had 12 baskets left over. Broken but useable!
 
·Jesus’ broken skin spilled blood on the cross but His blood was useable to bring salvation to the World! Broken but useable!

I was able to survive my storm because I trusted in an almighty God who is able to put the broken pieces of my life back together again!
 
Will you join me in pausing and give thanks to God for the broken and shattered pieces in our life?  Jeremiah 17:14 states:
“God pick up the pieces of my broken life; please put me back together again.” 

He left these pieces to help us survive.
